I work with the Elderly and this was a poem one of them wrote which was very true compared to the lifestyle we lead now ! I thought it was very true and I felt they worded it well and it deserved a spot on my site \ud83d\ude42<\/strong><\/p>\n

WE MET AND WE MARRIED A LONG TIME AGO,<\/strong><\/p>\n

WE WORKED FOR LONG HOURS WHEN WAGES WERE LOW,<\/strong><\/p>\n

NO TV, NO WIRELESS, NO BATH TIMES WERE HARD<\/strong><\/p>\n

JUST A COLD WATER TAP OR A WELL IN THE YARD,<\/strong><\/p>\n

NO HOLIDAYS ABROAD, NO CARPETS ON FLOORS<\/strong><\/p>\n

BUT WE HAD COAL ON THE FIRE AND WE DIDN\u2019T LOCK DOORS.<\/strong><\/p>\n

<\/strong><\/p>\n

OUR CHILDREN ARRIVED, NO PILL IN THOSE DAYS,<\/strong><\/p>\n

AND WE BROUGHT THEM ALL UP WITHOUT AND STATE AID,<\/strong><\/p>\n

THEY WERE QUITE SAFE TO GO AND PLAY IN THE PARK<\/strong><\/p>\n

AND THE OLD FOLKS COULD GO FOR A WALK AFTER DARK<\/strong><\/p>\n

<\/strong><\/p>\n

NO VALIUM, NO DRUGS NO LSD,<\/strong><\/p>\n

WE CURED MOST OF OUR ILLS WITH A NICE CUP OF TEA,<\/strong><\/p>\n

BUT IF WE WERE SICK WE WERE TREATED AT ONCE,<\/strong><\/p>\n

NO FILL UP THIS FORM AND COME BACK IN 6 MONTHS<\/strong><\/p>\n

<\/strong><\/p>\n

NO VANDALS, NO MUGGING THERE WAS NOTHING TO ROB<\/strong><\/p>\n

AND WE ALL FELT QUITE RICH WITH A COUPLE OF BOB<\/strong><\/p>\n

PEOPLE WERE HAPPIER IN THOSE FAR OFF DAYS,<\/strong><\/p>\n

KIND AND CARING IN SO MANY WAYS<\/strong><\/p>\n

<\/strong><\/p>\n

MILKMAN AND PAPERBOYS USED TO WHISTLE AND SING,<\/strong><\/p>\n

AND A NIGHT AT THE PICTURES WAS HAVING A FLING<\/strong><\/p>\n

WE ALL HAD OUR SHARE OF TROUBLES AND STRIFE,<\/strong><\/p>\n

AND WE JUST HAVE TO FACE IT, THAT\u2019S THE PATTERN OF LIFE.<\/strong><\/p>\n

<\/strong><\/p>\n

BUT NOW I\u2019M ALONE I LOOK BACK THROUGH THE YEARS<\/strong><\/p>\n

I DON\u2019T THINK OF THE BAD TIMES AND TROUBLES AND TEARS,<\/strong><\/p>\n

I REMEMBER THE BLESSINGS OUR HOME AND OUR LOVE,<\/strong><\/p>\n

AND THAT WE SHARED THEM TOGETHER,<\/strong><\/p>\n
